Take the cloud version if you want Vestora on your phone, or if forwarding a statement email and having it appear is worth more to you than where the file lives.

Take the computer version if the idea of your financial data sitting on somebody else's server bothers you — even a bit. That is what it is for.

It is not a one-way door. There is a portable encrypted export, so you can move between them later.

What is identical on both

This is not a cut-down version. The engine is the same code.

What each one actually means for your privacy

The cloud version — Honest Cloud

Encrypted in transit and at rest, walled off so no other user can reach it, never sold, never shared, never mined. Statements are read by ordinary deterministic code, so AI never sees them.

But we can read your data. We have to, to compute your numbers and keep prices current. It is not the kind of system where even we cannot see it — and if anyone tells you their cloud product works that way, ask them how it recalculates your portfolio overnight.

The computer version

Your statements, holdings, amounts and names sit in a file on your machine. We cannot see them. There is no account on our servers holding your money data.

Three things do leave your machine, and we would rather tell you than have you find them:

A check that your invitation key is valid — the key and a random device identifier, roughly once a day.
Anonymous usage counts — which kind of statement you imported, whether it worked, roughly how many transactions, and a random identifier. Never an amount, a name, a file name, or what an error said. You can switch this off in Profile, then Security.
A price lookup. To show what things are worth today it sends the identifiers of what you hold — an ISIN or scheme code, nothing else. Never a quantity, a value, what you paid, a folio number, or your name.

So on the computer version, what you hold could be worked out. How much, never.

We spell this out because on-device is the kind of phrase that quietly implies more than it delivers, and a promise you cannot check is worth nothing.
